Jakarta. Four million tourists have visited Purwakarta, West Java, in 2017, a statement released by the Ministry of Tourism said on Monday (04/12).
The number, higher than the initial target of three million tourists, has been contributed to the regional administration, which has been constantly developing the region's tourism sector.
Heri Anwar, head of Purwakarta Tourism Agency, said the total number of tourist destinations in the region has now reached 45 locations.
"In 2015, the tourist destinations only consisted of 32 locations; we have an additional spot every year. Most of them are nature destinations, and the rest are culinary and religious tourism destinations," Heri said in the statement.
One of the most visited places in Purwakarta is the Sri Baduga Park, which successfully attracted at least 30,000 tourists each week.
Purwakarta will develop 16 villages, in which each village focuses on different attractions, such as culinary, nature tourism, rock climbing and water sports.
